Hello, pumpkins.

I’m Alex. More specifically, I’m Alex, and I’m a teenager. More importantly, I’m Alex, I’m a teenager, and I want to start my own freelance copywriting career.

I’ve already got my niche market – small, sexy businesses that need sexy web copy to match. I want to slather their webpages with jello, cool whip, and a delicious minty aftertaste that leaves their customers licking their lips for their product (and possibly a pina colada, but that’s a personal problem).

Slight catch, though. I’m not exactly sure how to get started. I know I must open a website (luckily, I took an HTML class not too long back), get a snazzy name, become known for what I’m doing, and just stick with it, but god, isn’t that sort of vague? I mean, I’m not asking to be spoon fed or anything, but how would I even go about getting my first few clients? Ooh, also – is it all even legal?

Explanations as well as links are appreciated. Thanks in advance. (I swear I’ll give red wine and a slap on the – oh wait, that will get me banned or something, you’ll have to settle for being selected as the best answer.)
"And exactly who would be writing copy for?"
Small firms who can’t afford to hire full-time copywriters. Cool ones.

Winter wedding question! Hi. we are still in the process of setting and finalizing our wedding plans. If we?

select and are able to get married in the early part of December 2009, being that it is a few weeks away from christmas, we would probably go with a "christmas theme" for our decorations and colors. So what I was wondering from a ll the good people at yahoo answers is a two part question:

1. should bridesmaids be apple red or wine colored. and what color roses? red roses or black magic roses.

it could be one of 4 color combos – which do you like best –
1. apple red dresses with red roses

2. apple red dresses with black magic roses

3. wine colored dresses with black magic roses

or

4. wine colored dresses with red roses (this would most likely be the choice if we get married in Sept or Oct – but I’m now asking about December).

So, what color combination would be best for the bridesmaids for a christmas themed wedding. (would the decorations of the catering hall make a difference?

AND ALSO:

A previous question asked about favors for a winter wedding and one of the answerers said that ornaments are ok, but predictable. And if the person did that to not get the ornaments personalized.

Now, I like the personalized idea. Think of it a christmas tree ornament that said "Hope and Sal’s wedding" Dec. 2009 -(not our real names)

but the poser did bring up a point –

as a guest, if you were going to get an ornament anyway,

would you prefer a personalized one from the wedding like above?

OR

a plain ornament, but in a personalized box?

as in that the box would have from the wedding info?

Thanks in advance! Curious to know what people think!

Hi. Thanks. want to add a few details.

I gave lots of info, bc I wanted to give a complete description of situation.

We haven’t picked our date yet. But most likely it will be the end of next year.
So Sept, Oct , Nov or Dec.

We will have the wine dresses with red flowers if we go with a fall month. But December is winter. So I was wondering what people thought.
I have heard both red & wine for Christmas-y colors, wanted to know what others thought.

I know i have to call reception hall to see what colors they decorate in, & thats why I was wondering if it would make a difference for the indoor pictures.

Oh yeah.

We & all of our families & all of my friends are Catholic, a Christian religion. His co-workers are the only ones that we’re not exactly certain of their religion, but most are of some Christian denomination. & my guy is very religious, & Christmastime is his favorite time of year.

So the thought of a Christmas wedding was beautiful.

& its OUR wedding!

Can someone tell me what some of these words mean/are?

People Who Died
Teddy sniffing glue he was 12 years old
Fell from the roof on East Two-nine
Cathy was 11 when she pulled the plug
On 26 reds and a bottle of wine
Bobby got leukemia, 14 years old
He looked like 65 when he died
He was a friend of mine

(Chorus:)
Those are people who died, died
Those are people who died, died
Those are people who died, died
Those are people who died, died
They were all my friends, and they died

G-berg and Georgie let their gimmicks go rotten
So they died of hepatitis in upper Manhattan
Sly in Vietnam took a bullet in the head
Bobby OD’d on Drano on the night that he was wed
They were two more friends of mine
Two more friends that died / I miss ‘em–they died

(Chorus)

Mary took a dry dive from a hotel room
Bobby hung himself from a cell in the tombs
Judy jumped in front of a subway train
Eddie got slit in the jugular vein
And Eddie, I miss you more than all the others,
And I salute you brother/ This song is for you my brother

(Chorus)

Herbie pushed Tony from the Boys’ Club roof
Tony thought that his rage was just some goof
But Herbie sure gave Tony some bitchen proof
"Hey," Herbie said, "Tony, can you fly?"
But Tony couldn’t fly . . . Tony died

(Chorus)

Brian got busted on a narco rap
He beat the rap by rattin’ on some bikers
He said, hey, I know it’s dangerous,
but it sure beats Riker’s
But the next day he got offed
by the very same bikers

(Chorus)

i dont understand …

G-berg and Georgie let their gimmicks go rotten
Drano
Bobby hung himself from a cell in the tombs
Riker’s

thanks in advance
yeah ive seen The Basketball diaries and quite like the song, i was just wondering what those few words and phrases meant

Value of a 40 year old bottle of whiskey?

I have a bottle of Canadian Club bourbon that I bought in 1970. It was 7 years old at the time, their standard practice. The bottle has never been opened. I’ve stored it on its side all this time. (I bought it for a special occasion that never came to pass, and I don’t drink whiskey.)

Two questions: (1) Is the whiskey any good after all this time? Does it keep forever like red wine? Or has it gone bad due to age? And (2), does this bottle have any special value, given its vintage?
Added info: my apologies to those who tried to answer my question with my bad info. I wrote it without getting the bottle out of the box, trusting my memory (bad idea).

It’s plain ol’ CC Blended Canadian Whiskey, not bourbon. 1 quart, labeled from Walkerville, Ontario. The date stamp on the top says 1965, and I bought it in 1971. The label says "this whiskey is 6 years old," so the math checks. Thanks in advance for any followup answers.

Does anyone know of a wine similar to Bor Forras that i can buy in the UK?

Hi, in all my life I’ve only found one red wine I like, its called Bor Foras, it’s a brand of Hungarian Cabernet Sauvignon sold by Pieroth party-plan sales agents. I really don’t want, or can afford to buy it the way they sell it (£400 for 36 bottles) Does anyone know of a similar wine that I can buy in a uk shop? Red wines always take vinegary to me, but this one is very fruity, and I really don’t know what to look for on a label of red! I’ve only just got Rose sussed! lol
Many thanks in advance for any help x x
Sorry – taste vinegary!!

Need recommendations for wine options?

I don’t drink very frequently, so I am quite the novice when it comes to selecting wines.

Anyhow, I plan to pick up some wine today and I need some recommendations. I want to pick up 1 bottle of red wine and 1 bottle of white wine.

I prefer wine that is moderately sweet, but I dislike wine that is extremely sweet. For example, on a scale of 1-10, with 1 being extremely dry and 10 being extremely sweet, I want to get something that is about a 6 or 7.

Also, what does sake taste like?

Any information is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Need help quick in distinguishing between white and red wines.?

I’m the Night Auditor at a restaurant/hotel, and I’ve got to deduct the cost of a bottle of wine from the sales report (because the sob customer walked out w/o paying, grrr…….) but I don’t know whether to deduct this from the sales report of white wines or red wines.

Is "Nel Pino GRS" referring to a white or a red wine?

Thanks in advance.
Thanks to almost all of you. That helps.

If I buy a new bottle of red wine, how long should I wait to drink it? Is it best in 5, 10, or 20 years?

My daughter was born in 2003. The Jordan Winery red wine for 2003 will be available in 2007. Can I wait until her 18th or 21st birthday to celebrate and drink it? Or should I drink it right away?
As you can tell I’m not a wine drinker, just looking for the right time to open the bottle and celebrate without drinking a bottle of vinegar. Thanks, in advance, for your answers.
