I found a chicken cacciatore recipe online which calls for a 1/2 cup of white wine. I only have red and don’t want to buy more wine since I rarely drink it. I can’t really imagine wine in chicken cacci. anyway, but I want to stick close to the recipe since I’ve never made this dish before. Someone commented under the recipe that she used red wine instead which worked well. But, isn’t red wine mostly for heartier meat dishes? This is the recipe: http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Moms-Chicken-Cacciatore/Detail.aspx
Also, I don’t want to use mushrooms and garlic, but will it end up too liquidy. I want to half the recipe, since I don’t want that huge amount, but am not sure what ingredients I should go less on or omit, and what ingredients I really need.

I live in Chattanooga, TN and would like to have a romantic night with my husband tomorrow night. I really don’t know anything about wine except that I know we wouldn’t like something really bitter or dry. We had white wine on our anniversary so maybe some red wine suggestions?
Thank you!

I just turned 21, and I want to buy a bottle of red wine and of white wine, and save it until I’m retired or for 25th wedding anniversary or something special along the road.
Any suggestions? I’m not a fan of red wine, but I’m open to the possibility that I’ll acquire a taste for it in the next 20 years… =)
